LIME
Lime is used in bleaching powder manufacturing units, steel, paper industry, Chemicals, Water treatment, road building
,leather, flue gas treatment ,Sugar Refining ,dairy, lubricants ,Glue and Gelatin and other allied industries.Lime is
employed in the manufacture of many other in-organic and organic chemicals and pharmaceuticals. Most of the Calcium Organic
and Inorganic salts are produced by reacting the various acids with lime (the base).Among the most important of such
in-organic products are Calcium Phosphate (mono,di, and tri).fluoride, bromide, Ferro cyanide and nitrate. Among the organics
are Calcium acetate, oleate, stearate, tartrate, lacate, citrate and benzoate.
In addition to this ,lime is used in construction and building material for soil modification and stabilization. Not only
this ,the use of lime to address enviromental problems is one of the fastest-growing markets for lime products .Lime has
found key uses in almost every areas of pollution prevention and abatement, including treatment of air emissions ,treatment of
both drinking water and waste waters and remediation of hazardous wastes. Lime unique characteristics, coupled with its low
cost make it an attractive choice for these applications.
In the field of non ferrous metals both quick lime and hydrated lime are widely used in the flotation or recovery of many
non-ferrous ores. In particular, copper ore flotation in which lime acts as a depressant (setting up) and maintains proper
alkalinity in the flotation circuit. In the recovery of mercury from cinnabar, lime is used to remove sulfur. Lime is also used
in the flotation of Zinc, nickel and lead bearing ores. It is often used as a conserving agent to assist in the recovery of
xanthates, another flotation chemical.
Apart from this lime has various miscellaneous usage. It is used in manufacturing of pigments and coatings, precipitated
calcium carbonate, satin white, Iron, antimony, and zinc oxide pigments, water based paints, petroleum and tanning.
